13th December - An Evening With Opera at Southwark Cathedral

You are cordially invited to an evening of musical magic and hilarity. It is Christmas Eve in the Italian Alps and a large number of unexpected guests have arrived at the castle - how will the domestic staff cope, when they already have domestic troubles of their own?  Will the Contessa stop meddling in other peoples' affairs long enough to sing her favourite folksong? Will her daughter's suitor make it through the snow, or will romance be confined to the telephone? Can they all rely on an improbable happy ending?

Open Door Opera will be transforming the beautiful library of Southwark Cathedral into a cosy salon where you will be treated to mince pies, drinks and beautiful music: extracts from the most celebrated operas, from Handel to Mozart to Johann Strauss, sung by talented young singers direct from the Edinburgh Festival and St John's, Smith Square. A perfect introduction to the beauty and drama of opera, or a seasonal reminder of your favourite arias, duets and ensembles.
